- Cleaned pig stays clean for some time but goes after the dirt and joyfully relishes the mud
- Cleaned pig is mocked and ridiculed by a filthy pig because pigs are meant to be filthy
"Everything matches up perfectly. The pig is genetically very close to humans." (Click link to read full article - NationalHogFarmer.com) OINK! OINK!I bet some ladies would not object/dissent from this notion because of their past encounters with some "primates"!
As I noted in my first post (Why do I believe in God), I was brought up in the Christian faith and ended up turning my back on it in my teenage years. For a little more than a decade, all I ever did was seek after sinful pleasures... I was cleansed of my sins a number of times. These, however, were failed attempts at going back to a Christian life. My eyes were fixed on the pleasures of this world. For one reason or another, I always seemed to gravitate (little-by-little) towards the life I knew I did not want but at the same time craved.
Believe me when I tell you, I felt cleansed and forgiven every time I repented from my sins... I, wholeheartedly, confessed my shortcomings and looked to the Lord to help me. But... I was soon fighting my urges to continue in the path that I, at the time, had just confessed as bad, dirty, sinful, etc. After many years of back-and-forths, I started to doubt that I would ever be able to walk away from it...
So is there a law that defines this type of attraction? Certainly, a psychiatrist would send me to lay on a couch to speak about my past and find something about my childhood that impacted me so much that I ended up turning out to be the sinner that I am! (note the present tense). Some would say, finally! Some closure has come! I'm free!!! WRONG!
That could not be further from the truth. Science would have you believe just about anything... (hint: "theories") There is always "a scientific explanation" for "this", or "that" or "the other"... That's because science is very forgiving. How can they fail when their premises notes that a "hypothesis":
"consists either of a suggested explanation for an observable phenomenon or of a reasoned proposal predicting a possible causal correlation among multiple phenomena" [WikiPedia]In other words, their theories are deemed "educated guesses". It reminds me of tech-support and 'Ctrl+Alt+Del'... Oops! just reboot and start over!
This is why God's existence is not a scientific hypothesis and/or theory! It is not a suggestion or a proposal... His word does not predict a possible outcome... instead, it foretells the inevitable outcome!
But Felix, science is not simple theory, it's theory that is proven to be fact.
ReplyDeleteRealistically, ALL religion is theoretical because it can not be proven in any mainstream, concrete way. A faith (though beautiful as it is) is not something tangible. Scientific fact is.
Does being rooted in fact make something more real? I don't know. It depends completely on who you're speaking to.
For me, a faithless person, I listen to all sorts of religious theory... it all differs, some is contradictory... but it is all interesting. And for the believers... it is very, very, very real.
Often I hear the argument against science from Christians. How is it that God creates everything and has created this science and has created all of these theories... just as he created the men who put the words in the bible... and yet one of these things is right and one of these things is wrong????
Aren't they ALL right? Even if they contradict one another... isn't there room for all of it in this great world of diversity that God created? Isn't it meant to be that there should be differences of thought and don't we grow as people from the challenges that differenes create?
Wow! I do not know where to start! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou know! It's a good thing I edited this blog after I published it... The first edition was a bit over the top.
First things first! Thanks for your response.
My focus on this post was not to "discredit" science. My focus was specifically on evolution and how forgiving we have become to science. And how that has transcended to the way we view things (e.g. 'Ctrl+Alt+Del' - its OK that something does not work all of the time).
Most importantly, my aim was to draw similarities between the pigs attraction to mud and people's attraction to sin (using myself as an example). Perhaps the way I ended the blog took a lot out of my intended purpose... but no regrets, your post has a wealth of topics that will get me writing!
Lastly, "A faith (though beautiful as it is) is not something tangible.." That's a very hard topic to speak or write about. :-)
But, some (including me)would argue that God's existence and presence is quite tangible... the question becomes, would you (or anyone with similar views) accept their experiences, observations as facts.
Thanks!
Well, it really depends on the situation.
ReplyDeleteI hope that my response wasn't offensive to you. I apologize if it was.
I really respect you and I'm being honest because I look forward to your responses.
By the way, the thyroid meds I take are derrived from pig. Interesting.
Girl! By no means was it offensive! I would never be offended because of a response to something I publish. Especially if it is your response!
ReplyDeleteI know you are quite genuine!
If anything, I am hoping I am not offensive to some people for writing about this topic in the manner that I did (maybe a bit on the confrontational side... ).
The main reason I started this blog was to shared my experiences, beliefs and perspectives.
And to hear what others may feel about them... So please feel free to unload... No need to hold back!
"By the way, the thyroid meds I take are derrived from pig. Interesting." That's something! ;)
